Go West, Old Folks!

Tomorrow we're flying to Las Vegas for a two week Western adventure. We're not really doing the Vegas thing - we'e doing the Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah thing. The goal is to find a geocache in every State and we need these 5 States. After this, the only one left is Hawaii, and we're looking at next Spring for that.

When the geocaching is finished, we plan to fly to San Diego to stay with Tom and see his new kitchen! Also while we're out there, we'll be going to Jacob's Bar Mitzvah, and event not to be missed! Just think - we used to call him Jakie Bare Nakie ! Maybe I shouldn't remind him of that...

Monday after the Bar Mitzvah (Memorial Day) I hear that there's a BBQ at Kevin and Amy's new house! It will be exciting to see Maya - oh yes, and the new house!

This is kind of a bad time to leave Northern Michigan - blossom time! Things are so beautiful around here that in a way I hate to leave - but just try to talk me out of it!

"All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go...leaving on a jet plane.."

This was a travel day from Hell! Anxious that we weren't forgetting anything, the day started at 4:45. By 6:30, the car was loaded but we had decided not to leave the house until 7:30 for a 9 O Clock flight.
Passage through security was reasonably quick and we were on board by 8:40. The Captain announced that because of conditions in Chicago there would be a 15 minute delay but we would taxi out to the end of the runway anyway. It turned out that apparently he had said 50 not 15 and after sitting out there for nearly 50 minutes we took off nearly an hour late.
When we landed at O Hare, we saw the plane to Vegas at the gate, our bag made it but we had to wait for the next flight. Once we boarded, we were entertained throughout the flight by the 4 middle aged sisters sitting behind us. They were off for a weekend in Sin City with out telling their mother. Just after take off, they opened their lunches and began chowing down. The yanking was non stop. If one cared one could have learned about the health and problems of every one in their family as well as all they worked with.
We landed and waited while the carousel emptied before we discovered that our checked bag had come in on the flight we should have been on. Then we caught the shuttle to the car rentals. We had chosen Thrifty. When we got to the counter, we were 9th in line. There were 2 active agents. In the 20 - 25 minutes it took for us to work our way to the front of the line, 5 different employees wandered through, chatted with the two working and returned to their office at the side.
I finally made it to an agent, I presented her with my reservation confirmation, credit card, and license. She began playing with her computer. Nancy said that while she was playing with me, the other agent cleared 3.
We got the car, a Jeep Compass and went to find the Motel. We were both hungry, tired and grumpy and after dinner, sleep couldn't come soon enough.
