Not Today

There's an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" in which Ray's annoying mother Marie scolds him by saying, "Someday you'll turn around and I won't be here anymore." Ray quickly spins around, glares at her and says, "Not today."

Someday I'll get up in the morning and my leg won't hurt.

I remember that feeling.

When I was little and I used to have swimmer's ear all the time, with the constant pain and the constant swish ... swish ... swish sound in my head, I remember I used to say that. Someday, my ear won't hurt. And I used to try to remember what it felt like.

Swimmer's ear only ever lasted a few weeks, though. It must be getting hard to remember what having your leg not hurt feels like.

dude, back off ... sometimes when things are treated, they still hurt. That's the point, I was just looking for a point of reference to empathize with constant pain, and that's the one I came up with. So, fnoo.
